Work Experience 2024

At Mount St Joseph, throughout Key Stage 3, students will have the opportunity to go on careers trips and visits, which will expose them to different workplace environments.

In Year 10, students will undertake a work experience placement during the final week of February half-term (10th to the 14th February 2025).  It is part of the school curriculum and consists of a one-week placement in a company/organisation to give students the experience of developing key skills, knowledge and exposure to a real working environment.

Students are encouraged to find their own work experience placement using their initiative and developing communication skills.  Once a placement has been agreed, the school will ensure that the correct insurance and health and safety checks are in place, and that parents have provided consent.

As a parent, you can support your child by talking to them about subjects they like and dislike, encourage them to start their search for a placement early.  This could include some practical skills around how to make a telephone call to an employer or compile an email.

For the administration process of work experience, the school use an online platform called Unifrog.  All students have a username and password for the platform and are required to add their placement onto the platform, with guidance from their PDT tutors.   At the bottom of the page, you will find relevant documentation around work experience and the Unifrog process.

Throughout the academic year, students are also notified of any virtual or additional work experience opportunities that arise.
