Mount St Joseph supporting the Christmas food appeal working with Farnworth and Kearsley Foodbank at Tesco.
Mr. Malone led a dedicated team of four student council members from year 10 to extend our support to the Farnworth and Kearsley Foodbank during their Christmas food appeal at Tesco in Farnworth. The students actively engaged with members of the public, encouraging them to consider purchasing an extra item to donate to the Foodbank. Expressing gratitude for their generosity during a challenging time for many, the students left the event uplifted by the benevolence of the local community.
Eager to continue their commitment to local charities, the students aspire to participate in future events. Volunteers from the Foodbank commended the students for their professionalism and hard work throughout the collection, acknowledging them as exemplary representatives of the school.
It's worth noting that Farnworth and Kearsley Foodbank, affiliated with the Trussell Trust, is part of a network of over 420 food banks across the UK. This network strives to provide a minimum of three days of emergency food and support to individuals facing hardship. In the 2022/23 period, food banks distributed nearly 3 million three-day emergency food parcels, with over a million of these directly benefiting children in need.
