Our trip to Westminster Abbey for the Royal Commonwealth Service.
The Royal Commonwealth Observance Service is a highly prestigious event hosted by Her Majesty The Queen at Westminster Abbey. 53 independent sovereigns, that make up the Commonwealth, come together to celebrate with The Queen and the Royal family the uniqueness of our family of nations.
A long with many important guests, such a Prime Minster David Cameron, Kofi Anan and His Excellency Kamalesh Sharma, a small number of school children are also invited to join the celebration. This included six of our pupils from Mount St Joseph, along with their History teacher Miss Wright, who travelled to London for the day to join the event.
This is the fourth year our school has received a royal invitation to attend, and as always it was a spectacular service filled with music from artists such as, Ellie Goulding and hymns sung by the Choir of Westminster Abbey. As well as our pupils being in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen and other senior royals, they shared this memorable event with many dignitaries from around the world to celebrate unity, diversity and common values.
