Pupils who work and behave well make good progress and will be rewarded. The SIMS Parents app lets you and your child view your child's achievements and behaviour with daily updates.

Rewards – Premium Banking

‘Premium Banking’ is a reward system that directly correlates between the pupil’s engagement, behaviour, attainment and standards.  The system mirrors a bank account; pupils have a balance of points that can be spent on various rewards.

Pupils are awarded points for a variety of criteria including: attendance, punctuality, literacy skills, engagement in learning and demonstrating positive community spirit.

Rewards available include: a menu of items from the canteen, popular items from the ‘PB One Stop’ shop, ‘On the High Street’ vouchers and trip tickets. 

Throughout the year there are special PB promotions for attendance, literacy skills and homework, where pupils have the opportunity to earn ‘double PB points’ for example.

At MSJ we believe it is important that pupils have complete ownership over their own rewards and bank account, as it promotes better pupil engagement in school life; making them feel empowered and rewarded for the progress they make both personally and academically.

Consequences

Pupils who stop their own learning and that of others will not be allowed to disrupt the education of others.

Debits – Students who arrive late to class or forget books or equipment will not receive their automatic Premium Banking points.

Debits demonstrate continuous poor behaviour. Students are always given the opportunity to amend and reflect upon their behaviour in the classroom and outside of the classroom.

The sanctions used by school may be any or all of the following:-

• The pupil leaves the classroom and continues their learning in another room.
• The pupil undertakes a departmental detention (parents informed by note in the homework diary, letter or telephone by class teacher).
• The pupil is completely removed from the lesson (this is very serious and parents will be informed).
• Behaviour is monitored by a Departmental Conduct Sheet.
• A Head of School report in which the pupil is monitored daily.
• A meeting between school and parents to discuss the situation.
• A fixed-term exclusion for repeatedly poor behaviour or a single serious incident.
